The Ka-1 was the first design by Rudolf Kaiser who later became famous as designer with Schleicher. It first flew in 1952 and about 10 were amateur-built. This one was built as a Ka-1 glider by Kurt Schauer and Fritz Kraus in 1954. In 1957 it was converted by Kurt Schauer to a Ka-1M motorglider with a Lloyd LS-400 engine but due to problems in obtaining a permit the development was abandoned. In 1980 it went to the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe This photo is copyright © Peter Vercruijsse, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
