Quite a surprise when we arrived at Samuel Quimi (Barbones) due to a minor hiccup in our plane, only to find this Thrush lying in the banana plants! For reasons unknown, the pilot lost his bearing and parked in the ditch. Considerable damage, but hopefully repairable. Strange looking fake engines and props! This is one of two DC-3s on display at the parachute jumping base of the Escuela de Fuerzas Especiales No.9 (hence the "EFE-9" on the fin), along the Pan-American highway north of Latacunga. Unfortunately neither aircraft could be positively identified because all data plates had been removed. This one is fitted with regular C-47 cargo doors on the other side.
