The first licensed built Cessna 150 in Europe rolled off the production line in February 1967. This example had just arrived at Ballenstedt (EDCB) and presented itself nicely for a photograph. Reims Aviation no longer exits but the company built more than 6,300 aircraft, including 12 different Cessna single-engine models and four twins.

This An-2 was originally supplied to the East German military organization GST - Gesellschaft für Sport und Technik (Sport and Technology Association) as DM-WJE in March 1970 (then DDR-WJE in march 1982). From June 1981 it became D-FWJE and started flying for the Halle-Oppin Skydiving Club but is now parked at Ballenstedt.

This 'Pitschi', which should be an Italian-built example, is mounted on a roof at EDCB. A general aviation airfield in the Harz hills, Ballenstedt was used for paramilitary and military flying training in the Nazi era and has a wooden hangar built in 1942.

Flying into retirement on 16 October 2012, this Transall landed short of the runway here and bounced across the road in the background - check out the video. Onward road transport to the aviation museum in Wernigerode, 50 km away, never happened. Transall 5101, the 'Silver Goose', also landed here in December 2017, destined to go to Wernigerode instead.
