Air Zimbabwe made a brief re-appearance at LGW in 2011 after a long break, this flight delayed by 24 hours giving a first opportunity to shoot the new simplified colour scheme. The old scheme was unbeatable though

Way up at the top of the list of things I hoped to shoot in SA was one of these. Incredibly lucky as an Air Zimbabwe pilot's strike ended a couple of days before. Seen here departing for Bulawayo, this is one of three - apparently China made a 'buy two get one free' deal. Of these, Z-WPJ was seriously damaged after collision with five warthogs during take-off at HRE on 3.11.09

On a Gatwick diversion, this 707 was soon to be re-registered with the new Z- prefix. Formerly Lufthansa's D-ABOX from 1.65 to 2.81; sold by Air Zimbabwe to African International in 8.90 (5Y-AXM) but wfu for spares recovery at NBO in 1996 and gone by the end of the decade
