Latterly operated by No.2 Civilian Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit based at RAF Langham, Norfolk. Stored by No.29 Maintenance Unit at RAF High Ercall, Shropshire. Scrapped in late 1956.

The Mk.16 was the final Merlin-engined Spitfire, differing from the Mk.9 basically in having a Packard-built Merlin 266. This aircraft was built in 1945 with cut-down rear fuselage, but has been restored in high-back form.

Though I prefer the earlier, 'high-back' Spitfires, there are worse aeroplanes to look at of course. Note the 20-mm Hispano cannon.

The Swedish Air Force provided a first-class show at Malmen AB to celebrate the 100th anniversary of aviation in Sweden, with an excellent mix of old and new in the flying display

This aircraft is part of the wonderful Polish Aviation museum which I would highly recommend if you get a chance to visit. The roundel looks to be placed rather high on the fuselage on this wonderful restoration. Aircraft is actually SM411, painted as TB995.

TE184 spent her early years after being demobbed in the hands of the Air Training Corps in Lancashire and appeared in the 1968 'Battle of Britain' film at Henlow. Restored to flying condition in the late 1980s and was previously to be seen in USAAF and French colours
