From 1957 until 1970 it was operated by the RAF as XF437, originally as a Hunter F6, later in Hunter FGA9 configuration. The aircraft was modified to become a Hunter FR74S with camera nose in 1970.

Before becoming a rather special warbird, this Hunter was painted into this special scheme to honour the retirement of Fliegerstaffel 15's Commander. It was done in secret so that he was rather surprised when he walked out to the aircraft for the last time (story related to me by one of the museum attendants). It is now undergoing restoration at this super museum.
