The second DC-3 airframe was presented by AA at Newark on 26 June 1936. According to writer Geoff Jones, it was framed with D-LZ129 at Lakehurst 'a few weeks later'. AA flew their inaugural service with the new type on 23 January 1959. Flagship New York already crashed on 3 February 1959 near NY - La Guardia and 65 people lost their lives.
