This RU-8D was assigned to the 138th Aviation Company, 224th Aviation Battalion at Da Nang, S. Vietnam from 1966 - 1972. When it was modified to RU-8D configuration it was given a new MSN of LHC-4. This a/c was donated to the museum by Mr. Bruce Clapham in May 1985. As a US Army Warrant Officer, Mr. Clapham flew this a/c with the above unit from 1966 - 1967. He recovered the a/c in 1983 from a salvage yard in Tuscon, AZ. and restored it to original Vietnam configuration. Originally built with US Army s/n 58-1358.
