Picture taken the day this 2001 built helicopter was ferry flown back to ÖAMTC's maintenance facility at Innsbruck airport. In the preceeding weeks, it had covered for OE-XVE which is usually based at Nenzing but was undergoing scheduled maintenance to get ready for the winter season. The ÖAMTC started to operate EC135's in 1997, which since around 2002 is the only basic type the austrian HEMS provider operates. The 1st generation EC135T1's have either been replaced by / upgraded to EC135T2/T2+, while six H135 (EC135T3) have been introduced since 2022.

Based at Nenzing (Vorarlberg), Christophorus 8 is the most western ÖAMTC base in Austria. The modern base was built new in 2006 and is elevated some 8 meters above the ground. With a size of roughly 1000 square meters, the landing platform allows a safe flight operation.

recently upgraded to T3

This 2001 built EC135 carried test registration D-HECA and from November 2001 was based at the (now Schenk Air) Heliport in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg. It was upgraded to T2 standard in 2005 and later to version T2+. It still is active with the ÖAMTC, having served under different "Christopherus" callsigns over the years in various parts of Austria. Aslo since 2001, the ÖAMTC operates an all EC135 fleet and currently maintains 18 bases throughout Austria. So far, 34 different EC135's have been registered to the ÖAMTC (OE-XEA to OE-XEZ, OE-XVA to OE-XVF, plus OE-XVI & OE-XVL). Scanned from a slide.

Due to low clouds the HEMS helicopter could not reach the ski slopes. Therefore the ski accident victim was transported down by cable car and picked up by helicopter in the valley.
