The US registration is in fact 45-49151 and it flew (post-war) in the FAB as 4184. The P-47 was made airworthy, but was never flown due to governmental restrictions.

This P-47D started life with the USAAF as 44-90464. It was renamed F-47D in 1948. It was taken on charge with the Yugoslav Air Force in Mar-1953. In spring 1961 it was phased out of service and became an instructional airframe at Sombor. In 1986 it was handed over to the Muzej Vazduhoplovstva Beograd.

As far as I can determine, both Thunderbolts displayed in Musal are falsely painted. This one may be ex 44-19633 making its true serial 4120, but that is said to have been painted as 419662/B5.

Although Yugoslavia developed its own Ikarus S-49 as an interim fighter-bomber prior to the arrival of jets, in addition 150 F-47Ds were obtained from 1952 (23 of them from France). They served 10 aviation regiments and the last operated until 1961. This example was formerly 44-90464 in USAAF service
