First delivered to American Airlines as NC25629 "Flagship Kingsport" in July 1940, it served until 1949. It then briefly flew for Capitol Airways Inc. before passing to Ozark Air Lines Inc. who in 1957 re-registered it N137D. Retired by Ozark in 1967 it then passed through the hands of a number of corporate owners, including Air Exec (short for Air Executive Co.). This Ontario, CA based company, founded by James Webb and Russell Meek, was operational in the early 1970s. The aircraft was officially re-registered N29MA in December 1979, but that registration was never applied. It remained stored at Chino as N137D, which was still visible on the left-hand side of the fuselage at the time of this photo.

Delivered to American as NC15591 in 1940. To TWA in 1942. Reregistered as N15591 after 1948. To other operators after 1952. Reregistered as N138D in 1957. To the Museum of flight in 1987.

This aircraft was reregistered N29MA in December 1979, but this new registration never applied.

Delivered new to American Airlines in 06.40 as NC15591. N138D with Ozark from 1954. Retains its original Right Hand Passenger door.

Delivered new to American Airlines as NC 15591 in 07.40, and later TWA, Robinson and Ozark. To N138D in 1957. Later served lesser carriers until Royal West ceased operations and the aircraft was stored, still retaining its Right Hand passenger door. Now (2018) in the Museum of Flight at Seattle as NC91008.

Departing runway 27L before being painted in its new owners livery. Destroyed on January 15, 1977 trying to return to this same runway after developing engine trouble on take off. Other regns were NC28321, N73B, N477B and N73KW.

Right-hand door DC-3 built for American Airlines in July 1940. Served Argosy Air Lines from September 1974 until crashing north of Cuba on 21 September 1978.

This aircraft is now preserved in the Museum of Flight.
