'The Hiller 360 medical helicopter flown by Capt Dr Valérie André, during a medical evacuation in Tonkin' - this is the northernmost part of Vietnam. Early Hillers had marginal power and that is probably why the pilot was also a doctor! This was one of the first two helicopters in French Indochina, flown initially as F-OAHA and F-OAHB (c/n 133). Sources vary as to whether this is a UH-12A (US Army production) or a UH-12B (US Navy production). If c/n 174 is correct, it is a UH-12A ex N8174H

Registered as N8133H in 1949 then F-OAHB in 1950. Later to the French Army. Stored at St.Cyr by 1981. Preserved at Dax from 1986.

UH-12 was the commercial designation of this Hiller type, with UH standing for United Helicopters from Palo Alto, California. The US Army called it the H-23 Raven.
