Back in 1994 several frames remained outside under a shed. Obviously the sand from the Gobi desert settled down nicely.

The Shenyang J-8 is a Chinese aircraft based loosely on Russian types such as the MiG-21 and Su-27. Pity it was such a dreary day

This is a magnificent aeroplane I'm sure you'll agree! Just around the curve off to the right of this shot is one entrance to the Datangshan tunnel.

There was another aircraft positioned off frame to the right (its probe is just visible) so a proper shot side-on shot wasn't possible. This was true for many of the aircraft at Datangshan but it still was a fabulous place to visit for any aviation fan if you get the chance.

It appears that after the renovation of the museum some aircraft have been deemed surplus to requirements and have then collected together to form a sort of dump. These aircraft may not have a long term future (particularly this one that had been delivered to the museum damaged after an accident) but for now they make for interesting photos though!

Now positioned in the row of aircraft leading to the main museum building. These aircraft are packed quite close together (there is a wingtip just intruding onto the left side of the frame) making true side-on shots not possible.
