The first of six Rangoons. They served mostly outside the UK. The service life was brief - 1931 to 1935. S1433 was stripped of military equipment and registered G-AEIM in 1936. It was flown by Air Training at Hamble training Imperial Airways crews. G-AEIM was scrapped in 1938. Photo from: air Force Museum of New Zealand

Three Rangoons were flown to Australia to mark the centenary of Melbourne. They were moored off Saint Kilda beach close to the heart of the city rather than at distant RAAF Point Cook. Photo from: State Library of Victoria

A flight of three Rangoons flew from Basra (Iraq) to Melbourne to mark the centenary of the Victorian capital. The feat was overshadowed by the Mildenhall-Melbourne air race, the DH.88 Comet racers and the drama involving KLM DC-2 PH-AJU. According to contemporary reports, the trio of Rangoons were anchored off St Kilda beach, not at the RAAF's flying boat base at Point Cook. Photo from: State Library of Victoria
