Entry No. 6 in the Low-Powered Aeroplane Competition. The B-4 was the best of the entries , beaten only by two DH53s which were illegible by virtue of being imported and operated by the government. B-4 designed by Harry Broadsmith who had come to Australia from the UK to set up an Avro 504 factory. He designed several aircraft during his time down under. Broadsmith used an ABC Scorpion engine in the B-4. Disenchanted with the failure to establish a local aircraft industry, Broadsmith returned to the UK and joined Saunders-Roe.
