The PG-1, PG-2 and PG-3 were powered versions of the Waco CG-4 Hadrian transport glider. The idea was that after an airborne operation, once the landing zone was secure, the engines would be installed to allow the aircraft to fly out empty. The single XPG-3 had Jacobs R-755-9 engines and it first flew on 2 April 1945. Photo from: James West / www.indianamilitary.org
