First flown in 1919, the first Vickers Viking was a fairly successful amphibian flying boat, used in limited numbers by various civil and military operators. Nine Vikings were used in Canada and ten by the Netherlands East Indies army. G-EAUK, the Viking III, won an Air Ministry prize and made demonstration flights between the Thames in London and the Seine in Paris. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)
