Gripen 4108 was delivered to the Brazilian AF in September 2024. Less than two months later, it participated in exercise Cruzex 2024, together with six other aircraft operated by 1°GDA. It is seen here taking off from Natal AB.

Brazilian Gripen 4102 is seen here approaching Natal AB just before sunset, during golden hour. It was one of seven Gripens participating in the Cruzex exercise for the first time. It is operated by 1°GDA.

The second Brazilian Gripen (the first being a prototype serialled 4100) participated in the Cruzex 2024 exercise, together with six other Gripens, all operated by 1°GDA.

This Gripen has an image of a P-47D and a pilot under the cockpit. In the P-47 there is the text "FAB 4104" and under the P-47 image there is the text "TEN CEL NERO MAURA". This commemorates the first commander (Lt. Col. Av. Nero Maura) of 1º GAVCA that was deployed for combat missions to Italy during WWII. Nero Maura's P-47D 42-26450 after the war went back to Brazil and was reserialled 4104. Nero Moura flew 62 missions in combat and later became Brig.Gen. in the FAB. The Gripen, of that same unjt, has the same serial, hence these markings.
