Date in 1987 not logged. I believe this was the VIP aircraft of a visiting Air Force General.

Immaculate looking C-135E with the 8TDCS on final to land

During the Vietnam war this KC-135A was converted to 'Combat Lightning' configuration to perform radio-relay duties over the Gulf of Tonkin. Subsequently converted back to a tanker and then to an E she went on to serve with the 63rd ARS/ 927th ARW at MacDill AFB, FL before being retired to AMARG during May 2007 where it is stored with the PCN/Inventory No. AACA0160. Note the bleached 'Wings of Freedom' nose art.

Ferried to AMARG during Sept. 05 and stored under the PCN/Inventory No. AACA0145. This aircraft was involved in the "Have LACE" program to provide a jam-resistant airborne communication system so presumably carried a lot of sensitive and expensive electronic equipment. Of course this has all been removed and would account for her relatively poor condition considering the relatively short amount of time spent in the boneyard.
