The original prototype Constellation was converted to the prototype L-1049 Super Constellation and flew in varied test programs. The aircraft was fitted with an Allison 501D turboprop in the number 4 engine position during the Electra development program. Former Eastern Airlines Constellation.

Built in 1952 for Trans World Airlines and here on lease to CHA who were flying USAF/MATS charters to Europe at the time. Sold to Líneas Aéreas Patagónica Argentina and during delivery on 6 March 1966 it was ditched in the ocean near Callao, Peru after losing three engines.

It had last been owned by Bellamy Lawson Aviation, but was still showing signs of its earlier time with Eastern Air Lines.

Catair's Super Connies would occasionally visit the UK in the early 70s on Rugby football charters. Here it is on the site of the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget with the famous Viking which lay in the background for years

Early production L-1049 in storage at FLL wearing the remnants of its Eastern Airlines scheme. Served EAL from new in January 1952 until retired with 41,100 hours on 15 February 1968. Scrapped in late 1980.
