It seems that nowadays, this aircraft is operational again. During its display at the Verkehrshaus, it was marked as HB-FAN but at the time technically still registered as N283SW.

The world's only flying piston Porter. This is an immaculate re-creation of the prototype Pilatus PC-6 Porter HB-FAN, first flown on 4th May 1959. It was painted in the colours seen here for the Swiss Dhaulagiri Expedition and took the world record for the highest altitude landing of a fixed-wing aircraft, at 5200m up in the Himalayas. However on 5th May 1960, just a day after the first anniversary of that first flight, it was badly damaged on landing and had to be abandoned. The wreckage is still there to this day.

This piston engine powered PC-6 was built in 1962 and is one of only two remaining operational worldwide, all others have been converted to P&W PT6 turbines. The HIMALAYA retro paint scheme pays tribute to the PC-6 prototype HB-FAN S/N 337, which took part in the Swiss Dhaulagiri Expedition in May 1960 but crashed at 5'200 m/AMSL. Part of the original "Yeti"'s registration HB-FAN was kept, but now reads "Yeti-FAN". Note the famous castle of Thun in the background.

Built in 1962 as HB-FAL and became the Canadian demonstrator in 1965 as CF-RZZ. Exported as N17077 the same year then re-imported as CF-BGL in 1970. Exported as N283SW in February 2002 and current in 2021. It is seen here at a dock near what is now Government Docks.

CF-RZZ was the first Porter fitted with floats. Later in 1965 it was sold in the US as N17077.
