The Shadowhawks of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 141 were established in July 1987 at NAS Whidbey Island (WA) and equipped with the EA-6B Prowler. The squadron operated the Cadillac of the Skies until April 2009. In February 2010, they were fully transitioned to the Growler, as the second squadron to transition to this Super Hornet variant. Together with Carrier Air Wing EIGHT elements the squadron was seen during work-ups at Fallon for a deployment that started in May 2011 on board USS George G.W. Bush (CVN-77).
