First flight 18 Jul 1955 and last flight on 07 Dec 1959. The P.1A was the forerunner of the English Electric Lightning. Transferred to the RAF Museum store at Henlow as 7816M on 30 Jul 1963 and later displayed there on the gate. To the museum of science and Industry on 17 Aug 1982. Moved in 2022 to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum.

Displayed in Manchester for many years before being relocated to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum in 2022.

Just reconstructed after transfer from the Manchester Science & Industry Museum, along with Avro 707 WZ736.
