On 21 June 1972 CDR S.C. Flynn, Jr. and LT W.H. John downed a VPAF MiG-21 with an AIM-9 missile. The F-4J used in that engagement was Bureau Number 157307. The F-4J seen here, 157293, was assigned to CDR Flynn at the time the slide was taken, hence the MiG kill marking on the intake splitter plate. 157923 was later converted to a F-4S, and is now on display at the Texas Air Museum in Slayton, TX.
