Basic Hamarein Air livery

Delivered new to Eastern in August 1960. Sold to Air Spain in April 1973, but Eastern repossessed the a/c in June 1976. Exported to the United Arab Emirates in April 1977 and US registration cancelled. Scrapped in 1984. This slide was taken from another Eastern DC-8.

A6-SHA Hamarein Air (and still in their basic cols), EC-CDA Air Spain and N8608 Eastern Air Lines of origin. Acquired by Bursa Airlines Mar 80. Arrived Maastricht early Apr 81 for storage. Reported broken up Dec 84 with total flight time of 42323 hours. The nose section became an exhibit on the top of the spectators terrace at Frankfurt Airport until it closed. I have no further confirmed information after that.

Acquired in April 1973 ex Eastern Air Lines N8608. Air Spain ceased operations in January 1975 just after I had flown from Amsterdam to Las Palmas, via Tenerife North, with them (on a different aircraft EC-CAD). This aircraft later flew with Hamarein Air as A6-SHA and Bursa Hava Yollari as TC-JBV. It was stored for some time in Maastricht (NL) as TC-JBV before being broken up. The nose section was preserved and on display at the spectators roof area at Frankfurt am Main. The 2nd aircraft on this photo is EC-BXR.

This early DC-8-21 served Eastern from August 1960 until sale to Air Spain as EC-CDA in April 1973.
