After a DC-7 competed in the 1970 California 1000 air race, this Constellation was prepared for the 1971 race. Although it qualified for the event it never flew in the actual race, after pilots of smaller aircraft voiced safety concerns about the volume of wake turbulence the airliner would generate. The aircraft was scrapped in 1974.
