The FAB operated at least 80 C-47s over the years and this is one of several that have been preserved, having last served 6º ETA at Brasilia. They performed a great range of essential transports duties to overcome poor surface communications, maintaining the Correio Aéreo Nacional (military mail service) and carried civilians in areas where commercial air transport could not operate economically.
