The very first Boeing 737 to be produced. After testing of the new Boeing 737 was complete the protoype was stored at Boeing Field. In 1973 she was sold to NASA for aeronautical testing in the Langley Research Center. Now preserved in the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

The first of very, very many 737s, now preserved and partly sheltered from the elements in the new Aviation Pavilion at the Museum of Flight. The 3rd production Dreamliner, N787BX, can be seen behind.

She is starting to look a little frayed at the edges under the unforgiving Washington skies. I'm really not a fan of preserving aeroplanes indoors but in some places, and Seattle is one of them, it is rather neccessary. Note also the additional window under the nose.
