The 'Fitter-H' was received by Hungary in 1983, but after the Warsaw Pact period there was little need for a strike/reconnaissance type like this. Nonetheless six of nine remaining in the later 1990s did undergo a rework to extend their lives by 1000 hours, although soon after they were withdrawn. Hopes that they might be sold were not helped by the fact that this variant uses the Tumanski R-29BS-300 engine, unlike the more common M4 sub-type with the Lyulka AL-21F3
