This Wildcat was one of Lake Michigan's victims after a trainee Navy pilot failed to land correctly on either the converted carrier USS Sable or USS Wiolverine. She has acquired refurbished undercarriage, engine cowling, propellor and rudder as well as a her original wings. The difference between the new parts and those that spent many years on the bottom of the lake can be easily seen.
