In 1952, a program to convert single-engine Navions into twin-engine aircraft was started by Jack Riley of Florida, later well known for re-engining DH Herons. This consisted of rebuilding the nose into a baggage compartment and installing two Lycomings on the wings. The program was eventually sold to the TEMCO Aircraft Corporation in Texas. Later modifications by TEMCO added more powerful engines and wing tip fuel tanks. Just over 100 Navions were converted between 1954 and 1957

On display at the wonderful Pima Air & Space Museum. I had such a great time meandering through and photographing all these beautiful old aircraft. Although the large exhibits probably hog all the attention from the public passing through, there are many, many other smaller interesting aircraft to be seen as well.
