Delivered to KLM in September 1981 as N1309E. Reregistered PH-BUT in December 1995. Initially the aircraft was named "Admiral Richard E. Byrd", in 1999 the name was changed to "Admiral R.E. Byrd". Withdrawn from use and stored at Amsterdam between November - December 2003. To Air Atlanta Icelandic in December 20023 as TF-ARQ. Leased to Air Algérie between January - March 2004. Retired in March 2004 and reregistered N730SA. Broken up at Mojave in November 2010. Photographer unknown.

View from a low-flying Cessna 172. Ex PH-BUT 'Admiral Richard E Byrd' is waiting for better times in the desert. At the end of its career this aircraft was leased to Air Algerie as TF-ARQ, hence the tail colours. Please note also the two (out of four) stored Skywarriors of Raytheon Company.

Obvious to say this was an ex KLM stretched upper deck 747, now with Air Atlanta but subleased to Air Algerie probably for Hadij fligths. Taxiing for departure to Algiers after a long training morning. The sitickers are only two days old but they are noticeably worn out yet.
