This Spitfire under construction was nearing completion - the cockpit is modern

Seen at the Flying Show at the National Exhibition Centre. At 80% of the size of the original Spitfire this example has a water cooled engine which results in the nose looking more like the original Spitfire than many of the type. There was an optimistic hope that it would fly in January 2013 when I had seen it in December 2012 but a year later, it had still not done so though it does now seem very close to completion
