This Sokol was built in 1949 and initially flew for the aeroclub at Bratislava - Vajnory (closed 2006) as OK-DHU. In 1959 it was exported to Germany and based at Konstanz with a private owner as D-ENEV. In 1996 the plane moved to Schärding - Suben (LOLS) and became D-ESOK but is now part of the Classic trainers collection based at LKLN, where it was photographed during the Classic Trainers Hangar 3 Open Day.

This P-51 was built in Dallas but too late to see action in WWII. It was purchased by the RNZAF and flown as NZ2406 until Nov. 1955 when it was offered for sale by the New Zealand govt. The fuselage survived for many years in storage with the RNZAF Museum until bought privately and transported, initially to the UK and then on to the US for restoration. This was completed in 2009, the plane was registered N5551D and painted as 44-13737 flown by Lt. Charles Buck during WWII. The plane is now part of the Classic Trainers stable and was photographed at the Classic Trainers Hangar 3 Open Day.

This Argus was built at Hagerstown as 44-83159 and shipped across the Atlantic aboard the SS Loch Dee, arriving in Port Said in Nov. 1944. It then flew with the RAF as KK502 from Hussein Dey in Algeria until June 1946, when it was flown to US Army Payne Field (now Cairo airport) for disposal. It became F-OAFY with the French in North Africa and then CN-TNV with the Morrocan Royal Aero Club at Tit Meli as a parachute plane. After languishing in a warehouse in Hamburg for many years it is now under restoration to flight by Classic Trainers as many of the type flew in Czechoslovakia post-WWII.

This An-2 was originally delivered to Svazarm (as OK-WHB) in September 1967. This was one of the 'static' exhibits at the super Day of Open Hangars, as the hangars really were opened and for almost all of the day completely filled with people finding out about and viewing the planes. I had to wait until very late to get this picture. Alas, this historic old airfield is in danger of being closed and the site redeveloped. The airfiled organised this event for people to come out and show their support.

The KeepFlying Flying School is based at LKLN and had placed one of their aircraft on display at The Day of Open Hangars. This event was organised so that people could show their support for the continued existence of this historic airfield. The turnout in terms of attendance and fly-ins far surpassed the organisers expectations and I hope they will be successful in the fight for LKLN to remain open. I have photographed OK-SCA in a previous life... when it was a CSA Tupolev 154!

This Raven was one of the most popular static exhibits at the Day of Open Hangars at LKLN, with long queues of parents with children wishing to view and sit in the cockpit. This event was organised so that people could show their support for the continued existance of this historic airfield. The turnout in terms of footfall and fly-ins far surpassed the organisers expectations and I hope they will be successful in the fight for LKLN to remain open,

This gorgeous Mooney and the L-39 Albatros behind were two of the static aircraft at this very successful event, both pictured at the end of The Day of Open Hanagrs at LKLN. The event was intended show the popularity and importance of this historic airfield to the lacal communtity as there are planes to close the site and build a factory there. The turnout far exceeded the organisers expectations and i really hope the arifield can survive.

Den otevřených hangárů (The Day of Open Hangars) was organised by the airport so that the local people could come and see some interesting planes on display and, more imporatntly, show their support for this historic airfield to stop it being closed and the site redeveloped. The turnout was huge and greatly exceeded the organisers expectations and hopes.
