The second prototype of the Ar 79, a small, fast touring aircraft, at Schiphol. Fitted with extra fuel tanks, this aircraft made a non-stop flight of 6,303 km (3,917 miles) from Libya to India in the last days of 1938. About 50 of these aircraft, designed in 1937 were built with this 1941 built example being the last survivor. During WW II it was used by the Luftwaffe as a courier aircraft with the code VA-HP. Acquired by the Technical Museum in 1994 it was restored to airworthiness but is now displayed in the museum.
