Developed from the R-XI and first flown in 1932, the R-XVI was a small airliner by the Plage i Laśkiewicz company from Lublin in Poland, which traded as Lublin. Clearly it owed a lot to the Fokker F.VII which they had built under licence. The prototype was tested by LOT but lost out to the PWS-24. The R.XVIb was an ambulance variant with could accommodate two litters above each other, plus a medic. The first R.XVIb is seen here in Strasbourg before or after winning a contest for ambulance planes in Madrid. A total of six R.XVIbs built and operated by Polish Red Cross on behalf of the military. 11-1 is understood to be a military serial. Photo from: Narodowe Archiwum Cyfrowe
