First flown in May 1923, the Bloodhound was two-seat reconnaissance fighter which was not successful. Four examples were built. The prototype, G-EBGG, initially had smaller tail surfaces. The wings were also tweaked. It ended up as test bed for the Bristol Jupiter VI engine - photo probably taken on 8 March 1926 after flying 25,074 miles without replacement of its Jupiter VI, 'under official ubservation' by Imperial Airways. The pilots are Dan Minchin and Charles Barnard, left. Both men became fans of the Jupiter-powered Fokker F.VIIa and made long-distance flights with Lady Anne Savile and 'The Flying Duchess' Mary of Bedford, respectively. Minchin and Anne died in a westbound Atlantic crossing attempt. Photo from: Bristol
