Only two weeks before this photo was taken, on 26 May 2006, this nice Widgeon landed on a lake near Willow, AK with extended landing gear. It immediately nosed over and sustained significant damage to nose and cockpit. It was salvaged and trucked to the airstrip at Willow, AK, and it is seen here with the damage hidden under a tarpaulin and the registration taped over. Later in 2006 it was dismantled and trucked to Victoria, BC, Canada for repairs by Victoria Air Maintenance. With the repairs completed, N141R was flown back to its owner in Alaska on 17 Feb 2009, still in Royal Navy markings.

There were about two dozen light aircraft at this small gravel strip including this bright orange Tri-Pacer built in 1952, these tough types are ideal for landing in the rough terrain of Alaska.

When this little private aircraft is flying it must be visible from many a Mile away with such bright yellow colours.

Shot at one of the small gravel Airfields that are dotted around Alaska, this one is not far from Anchorage.

An old PA18 built in 1954 sits Parked at the small gravel Willow Airfield against real Alaskan scenery, it was Spring with the Trees still mainly to come into Leaf and melting Snow Banks piled up behind.

This workhorse was built in 1934 and is still in good flying condition, note the Alaska Airlines badge under the wing.
