The aircraft was re-registered G-BNGK on 5th May 1987 and converted to fire bomber configuration at Cranfield and re-christened the MacAvia-BAe 748 Turbine Tanker. Sadly the anticipated sales did not materialise and the aircraft was stored at Chateauroux-Deols, France by July 1991, and by June 1999 it had been scrapped.
