"818" previously served with the Royal Jordanian AF as "937" (US FY # 75-0621). Between 1979 and 1989, Singapore purchased 35 new single seat F-5E and 9 new dual-seat F-5F Tiger II in five batches. In addition, seven F-5E's were obtained 2nd hand from Jordan in 1994, bringing the total number of F-5's operated by the RSAF to 51. SQN 149 "Shikra" based at Paya Lebar stopped flying the F-5's in early 2010, just to start transitioning to the newly delivered McDonnell Douglas / Boeing F-15SG Strike Eagle on April 5, 2010.

The RTAF started to take delivery of 40 L-39's fighter trainers in October of 1993 and assigned them to squadrons 101 and 102 based at Korat (Wing 1). 101 SQN was disbanded in 2004 and it's L-39 first transferred to SQN 401 (based at Takhli) and then later to SQN 411 at Chiang Mai. Being one of the last L-39's delivered, the airframe shown here started with SQN 401, carrying military code "40124" till at least 2002, was then assigned to SQN 411, wearing code "41141" till around May 2014 before receiving code "41130". Withdrawn from use by the end of March 2021.

ex USAF FY # 76-1669, delivered to the RTAF in 1978, starting service with SQN 102 (coded 10221) and then with SQN 711 (coded 71121). Between January 2000 and January 2009, it flew with SQN 701 out of Surat Thani in Southern Thailand, as code 70121/SRT pictured here reveals. The last code it wore was "70141", still with 701 SQN, before being retired in June 2012.

Originally delivered to the RSAF as F-5F and carrying US FY # 77-0360, it was modified by Singapore Technology Aerospace STA to the version F-5T. Operated by the 2nd F-5 unit Squadron 149 at Tengah AB at the time the picture was taken. Unfortunately, the Singaporeans stopped flying the F-5's in 2015.

A total of six G222 have been operated by the Royal Thai AF since May 1995. By early 2010 however, all have been withdrawn from use already, as the plane gave the RTAF a lot of headache. Actually, the "triple two" has been nicknamed "trouble two" within the RTAF, as it had many technical issues and apparently did cost more to run than it's bigger brother, the C-130 Hercules. The airframe shown here was one of three parted out and somehow exchanged for a Saab 340B, which was received by the RTAF in May 2012. Scanned from slide.

Between 1987 and 2010, the Republic of Singapore AF operated four E-2C Hawkeyes with Squadron 111 "Jaeger", which was formed at Tengah to fly those Airborne Early Warning (AEW) platforms. The four aircraft had US Navy BuNos 162793 through 162797 and carried the RSAF serials 011, 012, 014 and 015. As from 2008, the E-2's were gradually replaced by four IAI equipped Gulfstream 550 AEW platforms. 015 shown here is now on display at the Singapore AF Museum in Paya Lebar, Singapore.

With US FY number 94-0269, this F-16C was delivered to the Republic of Singapore AF in 1998 under the Foreign Military Sales FMS Program "Peace Carvin II". As such it was among the first batch of eight advanced Block 52 F-16C serialled 608 through 615. This aircraft is assigned to 140 Squadron "Osprey" based at Tengah AB.

Between September 2000 and August 2001, the Royal Thai AF took delivery of 25 former German AF Alpha Jets, of which 20 were put to service with Squadron 231 based at Udon Thani (the remaining 5 airframes served as spare parts). The Alpha Jet pictured here is former 41+61 / 98+61 and is now displayed in grey colors at the RTAF Museum in Don Muang.

This Block 52 F-16D carries US FY number 01-6022 and has been delivered to Singapore under the "Peace Carvin IV" Foreign Military Sales Program. It joined the RSAF in January of 2005 and was assigned to Squdaron 145 "Hornet" based at Changi East at the time this picture was taken.

Deployed from USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63, based in Japan back in 2007) to Thailand for Cope Tiger 2007, an annual Joint Military Exercise between the Air Forces of Thailand, Singapore and the US.
