K-28 was delivered to the U.S. Navy in December 1942 and was assigned to Blimp Squadron ZP-14 to serve as an anti-submarine convoy escort. After the war, K-28 was renamed 'Puritan' and used as a testing platform by Goodyear as well as touring most eastern and midwestern states before retirement and storage in 1948. Only the control car gondola survived and it has been painstakingly and wonderfully restored to be on display at this super museum.

The remains of 3 blimp gondolas lying up-side down in a field close to the museum. These are ZSG-2 or ZSG-3 types. Parts were cannibalized for use in the restoration of the K-47 car at the National Museum Of Naval Aviation and the K-28 car at Windsor Locks, CT.

Originally delivered as a Goodyear ZNP-K, but converted to ZP2K in the early 1950s. K-72 (Bu30194) saw action during WW2, and on April 18, 1945, dropped an acoustic torpedo against a German U-Boat. Although a destroyer heard an explosion no debris surfaced so it was not credited with a kill. Seen here at the 1953 Dayton Air Show, with "Join the US Naval Reserve - Be a Naval Aviation Cadet" titles.
