One of the 737-200s operated at the time in Alaska by the joint aviation departments of Conoco Phillips and BP Exploration. The aircraft were fitted with gravel kits, consisting of a gravel deflector on the nosewheel and a vortex dissipator extending out from under the air intake of each engine.
