VH-HAJ was owned by warbird enthusiast Col Pay and had been on the Australian register just days when the photo was taken. The markings are fake, this T-6 being a remanufactured aircraft for the USAF with the serial 49-3186. It had no service with the USN. It was sold in the civil market as N2893G in 1963 and later N1751. The Australian registration was eventually applied to the fin.
