Delta Airlines took delivery of half of the first dozen DC-9s, this one delivered November 30, 1965. Sold to Southern Airways in May 1973, that airline was purchased and merged with North Central Airlines to form Republic Airlines in 1979. Pictured with nearly 10 years of service to go, the airliner would fly with Northwest Airlines in the Republic / Northwest merger in 1986. It was sold to International Airline Support Group in August 1992 and broken up for parts at Sherman, TX.
