This Castle Bromwich-built Spitfire was delivered to the RAF on 27 February 1945 and allocated to 453 (RAAF) Squadron. In 1955 it was used in the movie Reach for the Sky, then stored at Pinewood Studios until 1967. The following year it was acquired as a restoration project, being registered G-CDAN in 1982 and making its first flight in September 1988. In January 1989 it was re-registered ZK-XVI. In 2006 it was sold to the Temora Aviation Museum, becoming VH-XVI on 17 July that year. This photo is copyright © Phil Vabre, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
