It went to Korean Airlines in March 1977, with whom it became famous. On 28 April 1978, flying as KAL902 from Paris to Anchorage, the flight veered significantly off track and entered restricted Soviet airspace. It was intercepted and shot down by a Sukhoi Su-15TM. The crew made a successful emergency landing on a frozen lake not far from Murmansk.
