The type was the first all-metal trainer for the AMI, its development heavily dependent on foreign sales. Especially an order from Argentina for 70 aircraft, including this one, made the difference. Later, this airplane served with the Syrian and Austrian forces as well, before returning to Italy as I-AELM with the Air Defence Ministry in 1964.
