This 1942 C-47 was in Italy with the USAAF during the last part of WWII and remained there afterwards with Linee Airee Italiane as I-LINA. After the merger with Alitalia in 1957, went to the Air Force in 1960 and flew electronic missions with 14° Stormo Radiomisure. Dumped at Practica di Mare in 1998 and still derelict there. Sad for what was arguably the star of that Fairford show, but at least there is a similar example beautifully preserved in the IAF museum at Vigna di Valle This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
