Looking immaculate and clearly well looked after here at Pratica where it is preserved. No stranger to British enthusiasts, having been the star of the 1985 Fairford IAT when operational with 14º Stormo as an electronics calibration aircraft.

For the 100th anniversary of the Italian AF this preserved C-47 got an immaculate new coat of paint.

Built for USAAF as 41-7749. Post war to LAI as I-LINA. To Italian AF in 1960 and modified for electronics role with 14 Stormo, 8 Gruppo.

This aircraft, seen at an International Air Tattoo, has a strange addition to the nose.

This 1942 C-47 was in Italy with the USAAF during the last part of WWII and remained there afterwards with Linee Airee Italiane as I-LINA. After the merger with Alitalia in 1957, went to the Air Force in 1960 and flew electronic missions with 14° Stormo Radiomisure. Dumped at Practica di Mare in 1998 and still derelict there. Sad for what was arguably the star of that Fairford show, but at least there is a similar example beautifully preserved in the IAF museum at Vigna di Valle
