With its camouflage paint peeling away from the original white anti-flash finish, this old Vulcan sits forlornly on the Manston fire school dump. Delivered in 5.58 as a Mk1 to 617 Sqdn at Scampton. On receiving Blue Steel air-launched missiles in 1961, the Dam Busters reformed as 50 Sqdn on the other side of Lincoln at Waddington and XH483 was converted to a B.1A. Flew to Manston 9.69 and was all gone by 1977 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
